POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Steel Cutting and Stacking Specialist is integral to our manufacturing operations. This position focuses on the initial phase of core production, encompassing both the cutting and stacking of electrical steel. The individual in this role will operate machinery dedicated to core steel shearing and cutting, ensuring precision in the setup and assembly of single and three-phase cores. Job rotation among various tasks is encouraged to enhance skill development and minimize ergonomic strain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and interpret assignments from supervisors, adhering to both verbal and written instructions. Follow detailed drawings, Bills of Materials, and established manufacturing protocols while coordinating with team leads.
- Set up core cutting machinery for optimal performance.
- Acquire proficiency in operating core cutting machines to accurately cut materials to specified lengths.
- Sort and mark steel components in the order of their intended use.
- Utilize cranes for the loading and unloading of steel coils.
- Maintain records of partially used steel coils and document essential data using SAP.
- Employ PC systems to log data relevant to process attributes requiring Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Transport finished materials to designated areas.
- Conduct minor repairs and perform routine maintenance on machinery.
- Complete 5S training to ensure cleanliness and organization of tools and workspaces.
- Prepare core stacking tables and calibrate stacking gauges.
- Implement stacking procedures for yokes and limbs in predetermined configurations.
- Assemble clamping structures post-stacking and apply epoxy and banding to core limbs.
- Regularly gauge and measure cores to verify stacking accuracy.
- Fabricate yoke strap bands and various shear components.
- Engage in stacking and assembly of booster and main cores across multiple product lines.
- Operate the Georg Core Shear machine efficiently.
- Assist in the training of new operators as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Document work orders for tooling and equipment repairs.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints while maintaining strict tolerances.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with precision measurement tools, core shearing machinery, overhead cranes, and various hand tools.
- Knowledge of materials used in core production, including electrical grade steel and insulation components.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, following established procedures and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and rectify operational issues promptly.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is located within a manufacturing facility, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods and perform various physical tasks.
