Role Purpose:

As a delivery driver for food and food service, you play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the nation's food supply chain. Your responsibilities include ensuring timely and safe delivery of products while fostering strong relationships with our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and organization, executing any assigned tasks to support company objectives.
  • Conduct all necessary safety inspections (pre/post trip) of the vehicle and trailer, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards.
  • Report any safety concerns or required repairs promptly.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
  • Immediately identify and report safety hazards, ensuring the trailer is loaded and secured correctly.
  • Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork associated with freight.
  • Transport the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas at customer locations.
  • Conduct damage control checks on items, scan products, and consult with supervisors regarding order removals as per company policy.
  • Confirm delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Collect payments (cash or checks) when required, and secure customer returns in the trailer.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are securely locked at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain a daily record of service hours in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, ensuring trailers are kept clean.
  • At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and finalize all required documentation.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of twelve (12) months of commercial driving experience.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Valid CDL A license.
  • Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
  • Successful completion of post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass a road test.
  • Possess a valid DOT Health Card or the ability to obtain one.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases of varying sizes and weights.
