Aerospace Quality Inspector Job Description

Hanwha Aerospace USA LLC is a leading developer and supplier of flight-critical Aerospace/Defense components and assemblies. We are seeking a skilled Aerospace Quality Inspector to join our team.

Job Summary

The Aerospace Quality Inspector will be responsible for performing 1st piece, in-process, and final inspections on aircraft engine components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements, and company specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain blueprints and company specification sheets for the item and particular order.
  • Review internal operation sheets against customer blueprints.
  • Determine inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of specifications and dimensions.
  • Obtain necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances.
  • Complete assurance checklists during the process.
  • Perform dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary.
  • Reject unacceptable items, document nonconformance, and move part to quality clinic.
  • Complete required company paperwork on machined parts inspection activity.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, Engine Manuals, Customer Purchase Order Requirements, etc.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.
  • Accurate documentation of all inspections (Receiving, In-Process, Final) and ability to work with operators to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Communicate with co-workers, colleagues, and Supervisors to receive instructions and/or guidance and coordinate activities.
  • Organize and maintain inspection department, gaging methods, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements.
  • Willingness to work with shop personnel to induct incoming parts and aid in the expeditious shipment of critical parts.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Adaptability to different inspection methods.
  • Adhere to standards of safety and housekeeping as established.
  • Basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of Microsoft office and other programs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least three years' experience as an aerospace part inspector; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and machinery limitations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Visual acuity enough to be able to read machine dials, gages, Op sheets, and precision measuring equipment.
Work Environment

The Aerospace Quality Inspector will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with regular and predictable attendance required.

Physical Demands

The Aerospace Quality Inspector must be able to perform physical duties and be able to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor. Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs. Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility.
