Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technical Assistant to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our Anesthesia Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our anesthesia equipment and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and service all electronic and mechanical equipment used by Anesthesia Department personnel.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and provide general maintenance on all anesthesia equipment.
  • Assemble and prepare procedural equipment, such as ventilator circuits and intravenous lines.
  • Operate and calibrate various technical equipment used in the operating room, including anesthesia machines and physiological monitors.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems, and refer complex issues to technical repair personnel.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of a regular schedule of preventive maintenance and calibration of monitors.
  • Support Anesthesia Providers during regional anesthesia procedures, such as spinal and epidural insertions.
  • Apply monitoring devices to patients and operate common physiological monitors.
  • Remove and dispose of equipment and supplies after use, and restock room carts with supplies and drugs.
  • Assist in monitoring and ordering supplies for the department, and maintain an inventory in the main anesthesia workroom.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • American Society of Anesthesia Technologist and Technicians certification preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Experience with anesthesia equipment and department operations preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information to customers, clients, and other team members.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position working in a fast-paced hospital environment. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, and may be required to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
