As a key member of the anesthesia care team, the Certified Anesthesia Technologist will assist the anesthesia provider in delivering high-quality patient care. This role requires a strong understanding of anesthesia equipment, sterile technique, and patient safety protocols.
Responsibilities:- Assist with the setup and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, including non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring and fiberoptic intubation.
- Prepare and apply patient warming modalities as needed.
- Participate in problem identification and resolution, quality improvement, and staff development initiatives.
- Manage work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
- Assemble and prepare anesthesia airway sets, and coordinate with perioperative teams to facilitate efficient room turnover.
- Utilize sterile technique to set up and assist with placement of invasive monitoring equipment, including arterial lines and central venous pressure lines.
- Assist with obtaining lab specimens and ABGs, and coordinate with pharmacy for out-of-stock medications.
- Perform routine checkout and upkeep of anesthesia equipment, and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Coordinate with biomedical engineering for maintenance and repair of anesthesia equipment, and ensure adequate backup of equipment at all times.
- Participate in relevant local, regional, and national committees, and maintain working relationships with approved vendors.
- Graduate of an accredited program in Anesthesia Technology with an AS degree, or certified by the American Society of Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) as a Technologist.
- High School Diploma.
- I.V. Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Anesthesia Technician Certificate from American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians, and Basic Life Support.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties and responsibilities required of a Certified Anesthesia Technologist.
- Ability to lift 45 lbs of equipment from an overhead position on a daily basis, and push/pull up to 500 lbs.
- Keyboarding skills and ability to use appropriate computer software applications, including the Health Connect system.
- Ability to stand or walk continuously, and demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of anesthesia equipment, including proper quality assurance, storage, and troubleshooting.
