Position Overview
The City of Chesapeake is looking for dedicated individuals with experience in custodial services who are committed to delivering exceptional customer care and high-quality work as part of our team in the role of Custodial Services Associate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding internal and external customer service, addressing service requests and inquiries as directed by the supervisor, in alignment with the City's Customer Service Initiative.
  • Perform cleaning duties in offices, restrooms, kitchens, cabins, outdoor facilities, and other designated areas. Responsibilities include vacuuming, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors, as well as dusting surfaces, washing glass, and polishing furniture and woodwork.
  • Manage cleaning and paper product inventory, including ordering, picking up, delivering, and restocking supplies as necessary.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing chemicals according to product specifications.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables, ensuring proper delivery to designated pickup locations. Maintain cleanliness in outdoor areas and parking lots by removing trash and debris, which may involve lifting heavy trash bags.
  • Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Background:
Instruction sufficient for satisfactory job performance is required.
Certifications:
No special certifications or licenses are necessary.
Experience:
No prior experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in housekeeping or custodial services is advantageous.

Familiarity with APPA custodial standards and operational guidelines is preferred.

Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
