Server Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Server to join our team at The Melting Pot, a full-service restaurant in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. As a Server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences for our guests, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and Welcome Guests: Greet every guest with a friendly smile and introduce yourself, offering beverage and wine recommendations.
  • Verify Guest Age: Check identification to verify guests are of legal drinking age.
  • Menu Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all menu items and daily specials, including allergy information.
  • Food and Beverage Recommendations: Make recommendations and answer related inquiries, ensuring guests have a memorable dining experience.
  • Order Taking and Processing: Take orders and enter them into the POS system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Anticipate Guest Needs: Communicate regularly with guests, anticipating their needs and providing prompt service.
  • Payment Processing: Process guest payments, including credit card, cash, and gift card transactions, maintaining a cash bank as required.
  • Service Station Maintenance: Keep service stations stocked and prepared, ensuring an efficient service and maintaining clean and orderly service areas.
  • Compliance: Comply with established safety and sanitation standards, adhering to company policies and standard procedures.
Qualifications
  • High-Energy Environment: Able to work in a high-energy and fast-paced environment, performing quality work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Prioritization and Organization: Requires a good sense of prioritization and organizational skills, able to multi-task while maintaining a sense of urgency.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Able to project a friendly and helpful attitude, working as part of a team, demonstrating honesty and integrity, and being dependable and timely.
  • Knowledge of Spirits, Beer, and Wine: Working knowledge of spirits, beer, and wine, including brand names and garnishes.
Requirements
  • Food Handlers Card: Food Handlers card required.
  • Aloha POS Knowledge: Aloha POS knowledge an advantage.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift 30-50 lbs, stand, walk, lift, twist, and bend for up to 8 hours a day.
