About the Role

AECOM is seeking a skilled Environmental Planner to join our team in Franklin, Tennessee. As a key member of our planning practice, you will provide high-quality deliverables and technical planning support services to our clients in Tennessee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement transit planning concepts, including NEPA, transit operation and route planning, and data analysis.
  • Prepare reports, graphics, and technical memoranda as assigned.
  • Interpret and apply applicable government codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Assist with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plans, transportation plans, and land development regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers, and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans.
  • Conduct review of various plans, regulations, development applications, including comprehensive plans, permits, site plans, and technical studies.
  • Conduct extensive research in specific or general project areas.
  • Write and present formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence.
  • Identify community problems, issues, and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning.
  • Develop long-range plans for communities with common developmental issues.
  • Develop strategies to promote economic and community development, or efficient land use consistent with community goals.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.
  • Recommend priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvement plans such as transportation plans and transits development plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Environmental Planning, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in transportation planning, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), economic development, rural planning, and transit planning.
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field (preferred).
  • Experience and knowledge of transit planning concepts and methods.
  • Experienced working with multi-disciplinary teams and independently.
  • Experienced and competent in Geographic Information Systems software (GIS), including ArcInfo.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experienced and knowledge of ArcView GIS, InDesign, and other technical programs used to analyze data and inform decision-making.
