About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Specialist - SPMT Operator Helper to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our Rigging/Transport Engineer to plan and execute loading/transport operations for heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate loads requiring movement on SPMT equipment and determine risk categorization per Bechtel standards.
  • Work with the Rigging/Transport Engineer to plan and execute loading/transport operations.
  • Read and understand transportation drawings for setup of SPMT equipment.
  • Demonstrate proper load securement for transport.
  • Evaluate transportation routing requirements for adequate clearances and soil conditions.
  • Setup staging equipment for items to be self-offloaded.
  • Clean, maintain, and inspect equipment for defective components and notify supervisors of any defects or malfunctions.
  • Perform assembly, disassembly, and reconfiguration of SPMT equipment.
  • Understand and demonstrate working knowledge of hydraulic suspension, coordinate, and valve/sensor assignment in accordance with engineered transport plans.
  • Assist crane and rigging crews with all tasks as part of the site heavy equipment team.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures.

Requirements

This role requires a minimum of 6 months' industrial construction experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of heavy equipment operations and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Location

The position is based in Deer Park, Texas, with occasional travel required to other project sites.
