Position Overview

This internship offers an opportunity to collaborate with the Accounting team at Post University. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting reconciliations across various general ledger accounts, investigating monthly discrepancies, and assisting the Accounting team with journal entries related to their closing activities. This role requires significant interaction with accounting staff and necessitates a proactive approach, as it involves working independently with minimal supervision.

Location: Post University Main Campus

Supervisor: John Fair, Controller

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform reconciliations for various accounts, including but not limited to:
    • Cash Accounts
    • Receivable Accounts
    • Fixed Asset Accounts
    • Liability and Accrual Accounts
  • Analyze variances between Actual, Budget, and Prior Year figures
  • Assist in the closing process by preparing necessary entries
  • Generate and manage various management reports
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Must be an enrolled student at Post University
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate findings effectively
  • Familiarity with financial statement preparation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with a capacity to navigate ERP systems
  • Ability to gather relevant data from various departments
  • Capable of working under pressure, managing multiple projects, and prioritizing tasks effectively
