Job Description

Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to protocol
  • Obtain pertinent clinical information, including patient complaints, health history, and vital signs
  • Document all patient-related communication and interventions in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Prepare for procedures and treatments according to established specifications
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Perform CLIA-waived lab tests, draw blood, and collect, label, and process specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Conduct diagnostic tests, including eye exams, EKG, pulse oximetry, peak flow, and throat and nasal swabs
  • Monitor patient flow from waiting room to exam room and throughout the visit
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality at all times

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Occupational Health training to perform spirometry, audiometry, respiratory fit testing, and DOT physicals
  • Provide hospitality, check-in, and registration services
  • Verify insurance coverage and collect co-pays
  • Counsel patients regarding their accounts as needed

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent required
  • Successful completion of an accredited medical assisting program required
  • 1-2 years of experience in a Medical Assisting role required
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred
  • Maintain knowledge of medical terminology and standards of care
  • Knowledge of computerized information services (EMR) used in clinical management settings preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commitment to customer service and excellence in healthcare
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays

Compensation:

  • $18-25 hourly (based on experience)
