The Lead Quality Assurance Automation Specialist is tasked with developing test design specifications and automated testing protocols while architecting and enhancing test automation frameworks and tools to guarantee software functionality. This role involves working on significant and intricate projects. An exemplary candidate will possess extensive experience in the responsibilities outlined below.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft, implement, and execute intricate and/or high-stakes test scenarios derived from product functional specifications.
- Design, execute, and sustain sophisticated test automation scripts utilizing automation technologies.
- Establish a test automation framework for initiatives necessitating a profound understanding of software functionalities.
- Investigate software anomalies to ascertain root causes and furnish comprehensive reports to management and software engineers.
- Conduct meticulous software evaluations; grant approvals during development sprints, integration, release, regression, and patch software development phases; document outcomes.
- Engage in thorough testing and validate that program modules conform to specifications and standards, which entails collaborating with various stakeholders to devise effective testing solutions.
- Formulate and maintain detailed test plans and test cases for all testing assignments.
- Participate in agile scrum meetings to acquire and apply knowledge of feature requirements, system operations, and ensure new feature stories have well-defined test criteria.
- Review and refine complex test case scripts.
- Document and execute various testing methodologies, including black box, exploratory, end-to-end, and others necessary for comprehensive product test coverage.
- Comprehend the organization's cybersecurity policies related to QA testing and implement them in product evaluations.
- Collaborate with Product Analysts, Product Managers, and other relevant stakeholders to design and document test cases for new and existing complex product features and functionalities.
- Consult with product development teams in establishing acceptance test criteria for new product feature stories.
- Validate written documentation for precision and completeness.
- Utilize risk-based analysis to identify manual test cases suitable for automation.
- Execute automated test scripts and assess results; assist with the maintenance of automation scripts.
- Identify and log software defects in the issue-tracking system, proactively communicating with software developers and other relevant parties.
- Provide guidance to other QA personnel and conduct training as necessary.
- Identify innovative procedures, methods, and tools to enhance the efficiency of the QA process.
- Offer analysis and recommendations to support development and support team members.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- Typically possesses five years of experience in software quality assurance/testing or related fields, including writing and executing test cases, scripts, and plans successfully.
- Prior experience in developing automated tests using programming languages (such as Python, Java, C#) is essential.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills involving thorough research and fact-finding, effective root cause analysis, sound decision-making, and resolutions.
- Highly proficient understanding of QA testing methodologies and practices.
- Strong knowledge of the complete software development lifecycle and associated methodologies is required.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong planning and organizational skills while managing multiple work streams.
- Effective time management skills with a proven history of delivering successful outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying technical and non-technical information clearly in both written and verbal forms.
- Solid knowledge and experience with relational databases, including a strong understanding of SQL and queries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team and across functional groups.
- Experience in providing guidance and direction to team members.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of Agile SCRUM development processes.
- Willingness to travel occasionally if required.
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound independent decisions.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of QA practices/testing methodologies and assigned software modules.
- Collaborate with lead QA and management in continually defining and refining QA standards and procedures.
