Clinical Audiology Faculty Position

The University of Miami Health System is conducting a search for an Assistant Professor in Audiology.

The role of the Assistant Professor of Clinical Audiology involves administering and interpreting a range of assessments, including air and bone conduction tests, as well as speech reception and discrimination evaluations. This position is crucial in identifying the type and severity of hearing loss, while also enhancing the department's visibility and academic reputation. The primary focus areas include vestibular assessments and diagnostic evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Diagnostic Audiology and Rehabilitation services
  • Administer and interpret auditory assessments
  • Conduct High Frequency Audiometry as necessary
  • Perform middle ear function evaluations
  • Engage in diagnostic audiology testing for differential diagnosis of cochlear and retro-cochlear hearing loss
  • Evaluate for non-organic hearing loss
  • Assess for Noise Induced Hearing Loss
  • Utilize Real Ear Measurement equipment, including Live Speech Mapping, to validate and confirm hearing instrument fittings
  • Provide ear care and wax removal services as needed (training will be provided)
  • Identify and refer patients for additional services, including speech-language, educational, medical, psychological, social, and vocational support
  • Select ear molds, personal amplification, and/or assistive listening devices
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of various hearing aid manufacturers, particularly Oticon, GN Resound, and Phonak, as well as BAHA
  • Willingness to travel to satellite clinics may be necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Audiology is required
  • Valid Florida Audiologist license is mandatory
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred
