The University of Miami Health System is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Associate Professor of Clinical Audiology and Director of Audiology Clinical Education.
The individual in this role will oversee and manage the training and onboarding initiatives within the Division of Audiology in the Department of Otolaryngology. Reporting directly to the Chief of the Division, the Director will be responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, and facilitating the objectives and activities of the Audiology Clinical Education (ACE) program, ensuring adherence to the highest educational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement training for Visiting Professors.
- Facilitate the development of educational programs.
- Promote the ACE program effectively.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.
- Maintain an up-to-date clinical education manual and accurate training records.
- Stay informed on legislative, regulatory, and legal matters impacting clinical education and the field of Audiology.
- Execute the training curriculum established by the Chief.
- Develop measurable competencies and metrics for tracking progress.
- Engage faculty in the planning, implementation, and assessment of clinical education.
- Review and update ACE policies and procedures in collaboration with institutions.
- Assist the Chief in the application process for the program.
- Coordinate with the residency program director to manage application and institutional records.
- Oversee preceptor training and continuing education unit (CEU) records.
- Provide ongoing training and constructive feedback to preceptors.
- Foster a supportive learning environment that aligns with the training standards of the Department of Otolaryngology.
- Manage the onboarding process for new audiologists, including regular chart reviews during the first year.
- Collaborate with specialty program directors to create and update competencies.
- Ensure timely completion of Master Competencies forms by the Onboarding Committee.
- Conduct regular chart reviews at monthly intervals post-onboarding.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Audiology (AuD or PhD) is required.
- A minimum of five years of clinical teaching experience is required.
