Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural public open-access institution with 7 campuses/centers offering over 100 programs and 20 technical certificate programs.
About the PositionThis part-time Adjunct Faculty position in the Education Criminal Justice and Human Services Department involves coordinating planning preparing presenting and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities. The successful candidate will teach classes on various topics within Criminal Justice at any of the 7 Southwest Tennessee Community College campuses.
Responsibilities- Deliver instruction on Criminal Justice topics.
- Compile administer evaluate and grade student work fairly and consistently.
- Develop curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi homework assignments and handouts.
- Maintain office hours for students seeking academic advice assist with student recruitment and retention and resolve course-related issues outside the classroom.
- Accurately record student attendance grades and other required data in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Attend faculty meetings college assemblies professional development activities and other meetings as required.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in the field by reading current literature attending conferences and participating in professional discussions.
- Participate in departmental and college committees and provide outreach services to the community.
- A Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a Master's degree in another discipline with 18 hours of graduate work in the teaching discipline.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in higher education or 1 year of teaching experience combined with 3 years of employment in the field.
- Familiarity with current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning.
- Ability to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation.
- Capacity to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Effective communication skills to convey information and ideas in writing.
- Flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at different locations.
The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $55,000. As an adjunct faculty member you will have access to a range of benefits including health insurance retirement plans and opportunities for professional development.
