Position: TEAP Specialist (Trainee Employee Assistance Program)

Reports To: Health & Wellness Director

Department: Health & Wellness

Primary Objectives: This role involves preparing and leading group sessions for participants in the TEAP program. Responsibilities include scheduling and overseeing student activities related to the program and delivering informative presentations to new participants about TEAP services, prevention strategies, educational resources, intervention techniques, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hold a minimum of one interactive session on substance use prevention for all new participants during their initial orientation.
  • Plan and execute at least three comprehensive substance use prevention and educational events annually.
  • Engage in clinical discussions with management and health professionals regarding prevention and education initiatives.
  • Review intake assessments of all new participants within one week of their arrival.
  • Work alongside mental health consultants to assess when a medical separation is warranted for participants with substance use issues.
  • Provide individual and group intervention services focusing on behaviors that hinder employability.
  • Assist in creating operational procedures related to substance testing and intervention programs.
  • Develop and track intervention plans for participants, documenting their progress in health records.
  • Facilitate ongoing counseling and support groups, introducing participants to self-help processes.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure comprehensive support for intervention plans.
  • Gather feedback from counselors to refine intervention strategies and behavioral contracts.
  • Partner with recreational staff to create activities that promote a drug-free lifestyle.
  • Maintain connections with community resources for intervention and evaluate self-help groups for appropriate referrals.
  • Contribute to quarterly reports for the National Health Service.
  • Conduct training sessions on substance abuse for newly hired and existing staff annually.
  • Strive to meet performance standards and adhere to established conduct guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and property control policies.
  • Demonstrate LifeSkills Connection's core values and principles in all interactions.
  • Support participants in enhancing their employability through continuous encouragement.
  • Participate in mandatory staff training as required.
Qualifications:
  • Current certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor is required.
  • Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
