Position: TEAP Specialist (Trainee Employee Assistance Program)

Reports To: Health & Wellness Director

Department: Health & Wellness

Primary Objectives: The role involves preparing and leading group sessions for participants in the TEAP program. Responsibilities include scheduling and facilitating student activities linked to the TEAP initiative, as well as conducting informative presentations for newcomers about TEAP services, prevention strategies, education, intervention, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Must hold a valid state Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification/licensure.
  • Deliver a minimum of a 1-hour interactive presentation on substance use prevention for all new participants during the Career Preparation Period.
  • Organize and conduct at least three annual center-wide substance use prevention and educational events.
  • Engage in clinical consultations with the Center Director, management, mental health consultants, and wellness managers regarding substance use prevention and education efforts.
  • Review Social Intake Forms (SIF) or intake assessments of all participants conducted by counseling staff within one week of their arrival.
  • Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant to assess when a medical separation is warranted for participants with substance use issues.
  • Provide individual and group intervention services focusing on behaviors that hinder employability.
  • Assist in developing operational procedures for program components related to substance testing and intervention.
  • Create and monitor intervention plans for participants, documenting progress in their health records.
  • Conduct ongoing counseling and support groups, introducing participants to self-help processes.
  • Work alongside the Center Mental Health Consultant, wellness staff, and counselors to ensure intervention program components are understood and supported.
  • Gather feedback from counselors and personnel to update intervention plans and behavioral contracts, ensuring they guide expected behaviors in all areas of center life.
  • Collaborate with recreational departments to develop activities and incentives promoting a drug-free lifestyle.
  • Maintain connections with community intervention resources, evaluating self-help groups and establishing referrals.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly reports for submission to relevant health services.
  • Conduct training sessions on substance abuse for newly hired staff and provide annual training for existing staff.
  • Strive to meet performance standards and goals.
  • Adhere to required property control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with safety practices in all areas.
  • Follow all guidelines and regulations set forth by relevant authorities and the organization.
  • Exemplify and uphold the core values and principles of the organization.
  • Mentor and guide participants towards improved employability through consistent reinforcement.
  • Participate in mandated staff training sessions.
Education: Must possess current Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be certified, licensed, or accredited in the state of employment. A valid State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required.

Pay: $25.85 per hour

  • 8-hour shift.
