Substance Abuse Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Cascades Job Corps / LifeSkills Connection, Inc. As a TEAP Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to students enrolled in our TEAP program.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and facilitate group sessions with students to promote substance use prevention and education.
- Schedule and conduct student activities related to the TEAP program, including presentations and workshops.
- Conduct weekly presentations for new students on TEAP services, prevention, education, intervention, and Job Corps policies.
- Provide individual and group intervention services to students with substance use conditions.
- Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant to determine when a medical separation is appropriate for students with substance use conditions.
- Develop and monitor student intervention plans and document progress in student health records.
- Conduct ongoing counseling and support groups to promote the self-help process for intervention students.
- Work with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Center physician, wellness staff, counselors, and other non-health staff to ensure that intervention program components are fully understood and integrated.
- Solicit input from counselors and Student Personnel Officer to update student intervention plans and behavioral contracts.
- Collaborate with the recreation department to develop leisure time activities and incentives to reinforce an alcohol-free and drug-free lifestyle.
- Maintain liaison with community intervention resources and evaluate self-help groups for referrals.
- Assist in compiling quarterly reports for submission to the National Health Service.
- Conduct training on alcohol and other drugs of abuse to newly employed staff and existing staff on an annual basis.
- Meet performance standards goals and adhere to required property control policies and procedures.
- Current state Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification/licensure.
- Valid State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
