Controller Job Description

Insero Talent Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our team in Rochester, NY. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing general and cost accounting, financial closing and reporting, fixed assets, journal entries, and daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the period-end financial close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations for various accounts.
  • Manage subledger activity, including fixed assets, intangibles, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and unvouched payables.
  • Lead the general accounting staff in ensuring timely completion of day-to-day accounting processes.
  • Develop, implement, and test internal control processes, as well as monitor intercompany reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • Conduct US GAAP research and analyze the impact of technical accounting matters, completing work in a timely manner and in compliance with corporate policies and external requirements.
  • Act as a finance liaison to other functional areas, including invoicing, project management, and sales organizations, to ensure accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Assist the Director of Finance and CFO with preparation of financial reporting packages for the executive team and ad-hoc requests as needed.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external audits, including financial, bank, and state insurance funds audits.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, required.
  • Five to seven years of experience in an accounting or finance role or public accounting, required.
  • Experience managing an accounting organization.
  • Understanding of percentage of completion revenue recognition methodology, preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in PowerPoint and Word, strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and V-lookups.

  • Experience with reconciling accounts and researching variances.
  • High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines.

  • General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Timely completion of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks as assigned.
