Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled HR Consultant to spearhead various human resources initiatives and deliver effective human capital support within our Alabama market.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of human resources management and experience in consulting as well as addressing real HR challenges. The HR Consultant will be responsible for providing tailored service solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients through proactive business and HR consultation. This role will work closely with the market leader in the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of client activities, offering HR guidance in areas such as employee relations and executing strategic HR plans and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture strong, enduring client relationships through regular proactive and strategic meetings.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with clients by providing sound HR recommendations based on knowledge of employment law, compliance, and applicable regulations.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients by cultivating relationships and delivering high-quality human resources services and account management across various states and industries. Engage proactively with clients to understand their business models, HR practices, goals, and objectives, and collaborate to create effective service plans.
  • Offer customized solutions aligned with internal standards and HR best practices that enhance communication, productivity, organizational culture, and work practices while minimizing liability. Solutions may include handbooks, job descriptions, performance evaluation systems, compensation plans, investigations, onboarding processes, coaching, legal compliance, workforce reductions, termination analysis, and succession planning.
  • Provide high-touch account management services, ensuring timely resolution of client inquiries by collaborating with internal teams to achieve client satisfaction.
  • Participate in prospect meetings with sales and service teams to offer insights on potential benefits to prospective clients.
  • Independently design, customize, and implement client service plans to ensure timely and successful delivery of solutions tailored to customer needs and objectives.
  • Assess client needs to initiate and lead human resource programs and projects.
  • Recommend and implement training programs to enhance business operations and reduce liability for both the organization and clients.
  • Oversee benefits open enrollment activities for the assigned client portfolio.
  • Advise client contacts on HR best practices and suggest improvements in strategic and tactical HR functions.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including the creation of handbooks, content development, client communication, policy formulation, and investigation reports.
  • Accurately document all client interactions in the CRM and HRIS systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and laws.
  • Maintain consistency across sites, regions, and the organization.
  • Adhere to company policies and guidelines.
  • Travel to conduct onsite client visits and attend internal meetings (up to 50% travel required).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • 3 years of HR/account management experience in either a consulting or corporate environment, or in a relationship-building role.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically and understand clients' underlying business and organizational challenges.
  • Excellent service orientation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in HR best practices, with a solid understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of various HR disciplines, including employee relations, coaching, organizational diagnosis, performance management, training and development, recruitment, compensation, and benefits.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple projects while maintaining focus and follow-through on issues until resolved, delivering results as promised.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and the ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to client locations.
  • PEO experience is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience in benefits plans and open enrollment.
  • Must maintain a current SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or be able to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
