Senior Patient Registration Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Sr. Patient Registration Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring seamless patient access to healthcare services. This position is responsible for conducting eligibility verification screenings, documenting patient information, and facilitating financial assessments for patients accessing services at the Open Health Care Clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial and 6-month eligibility screenings and financial assessments for new and existing clients.
- Enroll eligible patients in appropriate programs for benefits.
- Coordinate and communicate with other staff regarding patient eligibility and access to services.
- Maintain effective communication with inter-agency service providers to coordinate services.
- Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information at each encounter.
- Serve as a backup to the Patient Registration Specialist position when needed.
- Input patient information into the electronic record while following PHI and HIPAA guidelines.
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain current awareness of community-based resources and public benefits available to clients.
- Maintain current awareness of basic HIV disease and treatment issues.
- Handle confidential and sensitive client information using HIPAA guidelines.
- Work within the system to accomplish work goals, showing flexibility in response to process changes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or three years' experience in patient registration, eligibility verification, and financial assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Managed Care or Ryan White experience.
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, and typing skills.
- Proficient in medical practice management software.
- Sound knowledge of dental and medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal, customer service, and written skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Work Environment:
The Sr. Patient Registration Specialist will work in a moderate noise environment with the ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods. Driving during the workday and local or out-of-state travel may be required.
