Position Summary

As a Wind Field Troubleshooting Technician, your primary responsibility will be to support the operational fleet of wind turbines, focusing on in-field diagnostics and service restoration efforts. You will collaborate closely with site teams to ensure turbines are returned to operational status while mentoring junior technicians in troubleshooting methodologies. This role requires extensive travel, operating on a 4-week on, 1-week off schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel across the US to assist Invenergy-owned and third-party contracted sites with various tasks, including advanced diagnostics, pilot program initiatives, and complex repairs.
  • Identify faults and execute repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Support pilot projects aimed at evaluating new tools, equipment, and processes.
  • Assist in managing project deliverables and contractual obligations while liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures that adhere to company, customer, and industry standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Provide support for High Voltage switching when necessary.
  • Recognize, document, and communicate opportunities for operational and quality enhancements.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data to determine the best course of action for proactive and reactive maintenance and repairs.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and technical expertise while working with minimal supervision.
  • Lead and collaborate with technicians in fulfilling their operational and contractual responsibilities at each site.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for site technicians.
  • Evaluate and oversee contractor work related to equipment restoration.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections across the fleet, providing feedback on best practices and improvement opportunities.
  • Efficiently manage personal travel logistics.
  • This is a rotational position requiring travel in 4-week intervals away from home, followed by a week off.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with GE wind turbines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience with high-voltage tools and personal protective equipment.
  • Familiarity with equipment software, including GE Toolbox ST, GE Webpages, SCADA, Visu-pro, and CMS systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year of specific experience with 2X preferred.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb ladders independently, and work at heights exceeding 80 meters (250 feet).
  • Capability to lift and maneuver up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
  • Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 lbs.), excluding any equipment or gear worn during job-related tasks.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
