Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in New York, NY. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and learning from senior engineers, working on a variety of tasks, and contributing to the success of our Forensic practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Engineering team with field investigations, analysis, design, production of contract documents, and construction administration services.
  • Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations related to insurance claims.
  • Perform required field surveys, calculations, design, and equipment selections.
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
  • Interface and coordinate with Architects/Engineers/Contractors/Clients/Attorneys/other Experts.
  • Assist with the organization and preparation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Review and research applicable building codes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) Certification is desired.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong verbal and analytical skills.
  • Interest in mechanical investigation/design of buildings and industrial systems, as well as interest in litigation support and insurance claims evaluations.
  • Proficient in both manual and software-assisted calculations.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit/MicroStation a plus.
Compensation:

The rate for this position generally is $84,000-$94,500 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same pay rates, as permitted by the New York Equal Pay Transparency Law.
