Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. This is a key role that will involve directing or performing specific engineering assignments in the field of mechanical engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct or perform specific engineering assignments in the field of mechanical engineering.
  • Establish design criteria and ensure the correctness of drawings.
  • Represent the section or department to resolve and plan work.
  • Provide engineering support for various types of commercial building/yard mechanical systems.
  • Review and approve contractor designs, calculations, shop drawings, and submittals.
  • Serve as a consultant within the company or the industry in the area of specialization.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis and conduct conceptual studies to determine best designs.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation of budgets and appropriation requests for specific projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8 years of experience in areas of design and application of engineering principles in assigned areas of expertise.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform required calculations and select equipment in support of capital and O&M project designs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 6 years of experience in areas of design and application of engineering principles in assigned areas of expertise.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
