Job Title: Risk Manager

Berkshire Hathaway Automotive is seeking a highly skilled Risk Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and administering organization-wide risk management programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize potential risks and exposure for our 87 automotive dealerships.
  • Collaborate with external partners to design, market, and procure insurance programs that meet our business needs.
  • Manage claims and litigation matters, including mediation, to ensure effective resolution.
  • Oversee the management of third-party administrators (TPAs) and insurance companies to accurately set reserves for known exposures.
  • Participate in strategic decision-making for our self-insured group healthcare program, which covers over 5,000 participants with annual premiums exceeding $40M.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an American Bar Association accredited law school or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Legal, Safety, Engineering, Finance, or a related field with a Master's of Legal Studies (MLS) in Risk Management.
  • Current Texas Bar License or the ability to become licensed within one year.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage outside legal counsel and work with governmental agencies, franchisors, and other third parties.
