The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role as a member of the healthcare team, working under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). This position requires proficiency in performing various tasks essential to patient care. Responsibilities include assisting the RN with clinical duties such as monitoring blood glucose levels, conducting EKGs, applying basic dressings, utilizing aseptic techniques, and responding to medical emergencies with Heartsaver CPR and AED skills.

Additionally, the PCT is dedicated to addressing the needs of patients and their families, contributing to the smooth operation of the unit. The role emphasizes the principles of Patient and Family Centered Care, ensuring an environment that reflects best practices in healthcare.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Certified nursing assistant or current nursing student who has completed Fundamentals of Nursing or equivalent med/surg clinical rotation.
  • AHA Heartsaver, CPR and AED program required.
  • Prior PCA/CNA experience preferred.
