Join our team as an Emergency Surgery Technician/Assistant to provide critical on-call support. This is a full-time role with a commitment of 40 hours per week, compensated for all scheduled shifts.

Available shift options include:
2 x 14-hour shifts + 1 x 12-hour shift [40hrs] or 2 x 13-hour shifts + 1 x 14-hour shift [40hrs]
14-hour shift: 5pm-7:30am (Monday to Friday only)
13-hour shift: 6am-8pm (Saturday & Sunday only)
12-hour shift: 7pm-7:30am (Saturday & Sunday only)

Each shift includes a 30-minute break at prearranged times. You will collaborate with other on-call anesthesia personnel to ensure coverage for all seven nights and weekend daytime hours.

Position Overview:

The primary duty of the Emergency Surgery Assistant is to deliver overnight support for urgent surgical cases within the surgery department, ensuring the highest standard of surgical assistance for both patients and colleagues. This role is primarily on-call, requiring immediate response to the hospital for urgent surgical and anesthetic cases. The Surgery Assistant must effectively manage critical and emergency situations alongside the anesthetist, surgeon, and other on-call staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Arrive at the facility within one hour of notification.
  • Exhibit advanced surgical technical skills for urgent cases, including setup and breakdown of surgical environments, equipment management, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate anticipatory skills to support the anesthetist, surgeon, and team members.
  • Provide optimal perioperative care for patients.
  • Manage emergency situations effectively.
  • Operate all equipment utilized in the surgery and anesthesia department.
