Microbiology Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microbiology Director to join our team at the Ohio Department of Health. As a key member of our Public Health Laboratory, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our microbiology testing services.

• Supervise and manage a team of laboratory personnel, ensuring they have the necessary training and resources to perform high-quality testing.
• Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with CLIA and CAP regulations.
• Oversee the development and implementation of new testing methodologies and technologies.
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services.
• Provide scientific expertise and guidance to laboratory staff, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform complex testing.
• Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in microbiology and laboratory science, applying this knowledge to improve laboratory services and processes.

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, or equivalent experience and qualifications.
• Board certification in anatomic or clinical pathology, or equivalent experience and qualifications.
• At least 2 years of experience directing or supervising high-complexity testing, or equivalent experience and qualifications.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
