About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Microbiology Director at the Ohio Department of Health. As a key member of our Public Health Laboratory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our microbiology testing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Manage Laboratory Staff: Provide guidance and oversight to laboratory personnel, ensuring they have the necessary training and resources to perform their duties effectively.
  • Develop and Implement Laboratory Policies: Create and enforce policies and procedures that ensure compliance with CLIA regulations and maintain the highest standards of laboratory practice.
  • Ensure Quality and Compliance: Oversee the development and implementation of quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other departments and teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of laboratory services.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Developments: Stay current with the latest advancements and technologies in microbiology and laboratory medicine, applying this knowledge to improve laboratory services and processes.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Meet the qualifications outlined by Code of Federal Regulations Standard, including a doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications: Hold a valid certification in anatomic or clinical pathology, or both, by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology, or possess equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience: Have at least two years of laboratory experience directing or supervising high complexity testing, or equivalent experience in a related field.
