Patent IP Paralegal Opportunity

Eckert Seamans, a leading national law firm, is seeking an experienced Patent IP Paralegal to join our team. As a key member of our intellectual property group, you will play a critical role in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of patent applications, including Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications and associated documents.
  • Track docket entries and deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Prepare reports for attorneys and clients, providing detailed information on patent application status.
  • Confer with clients, foreign associates, and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office personnel to ensure seamless communication.
  • Conduct patent watch investigations and publication investigations to stay up-to-date on industry developments.
  • Arrange for legalization of documents in connection with mergers and change of name documents in foreign countries.
  • Oversee the maintenance fee services provided to our clients by CPA Global, ensuring efficient account setup and issue resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the team.
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment, with a strong aptitude for learning new applications, systems, and processes.
  • Proficiency in Office365, docketing databases, PATTSY WAVE, USPTO Patent Center, WIPO, Global IP Estimator, and document management systems (iManage preferred).
  • Knowledge of foreign patent docketing and a strong understanding of intellectual property law.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience required.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA qualified program preferred.
  • Minimum five years patent prosecution experience.
