Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Collaborate with veterinarian peers and staff to create a positive and productive work environment.
    • Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to a team of veterinary technicians and assistants.
    • Develop and implement effective workflow processes to ensure positive patient outcomes and staff effectiveness.
    • Help shape our hospital culture by leading by example and fostering our core values.
  • Medical Care and Operations
    • Provide timely and comprehensive medical care to patients, including conducting physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and administering necessary treatments.
    • Maintain accurate records of all services rendered and ensure clear communication with clients or referring veterinarians regarding patient status and treatment plans.
    • Promote the practice and marketing of our services.
    • Participate in rounds and intern/extern/ resident education.
    • Conduct in-house continuing education.
  • Education and Experience
    • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited university or college.
    • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Oregon.
    • Prior experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or high-volume general practice preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Functional and reliable in stressful situations.
    • Medical math skills, including calculating basic formulas for weight conversions and medication dose conversions.
    • Knowledge of feline and canine anatomy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
    • Commitment to providing compassionate care to patients and their owners.
    Requirements
    • Lift and carry approximately 40 lbs.
    • Team lift and carry approximately 150 lbs.
    • Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
    • Wear all protective gear, including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.
    • Work for long periods of time with arms extended.
    • Work within an environment that has high levels of animal sounds, bodily fluids that need disposal, and open wound management.
