About the Role:

The UCF College of Medicine's Health and Information Technology department is looking for skilled individuals to fill the role of Advanced Systems Engineer. This position involves the deployment, integration, documentation, maintenance, and assurance of the core systems and services utilized by the College of Medicine and its affiliates. The Advanced Systems Engineer will

collaborate with technical teams, end-users, and vendors to optimize system performance and manage the expectations of various stakeholders including students, faculty, researchers, clinicians, and administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities:

System Engineering:
  • Monitor services regularly to ensure maximum uptime through systematic reviews and the use of established tools.
  • Respond to incidents in partnership with clients and peer units, as necessary for core systems and services.
  • Deliver high-level system administration for the implementation and upkeep of essential systems and services for the College of Medicine and its associated programs.
  • Conduct installations and customizations of core systems and unique services, focusing on connectivity, interoperability, and performance quality assurance.

Administrative Duties:
  • Collaborate with the HealthIT and Main Campus Information Security Offices to enforce and maintain compliance with security standards, including patch management and server hardening.
  • Document system requirements, configurations, dependencies, and interconnectivity comprehensively.
  • Assist in the creation and evaluation of technical documentation, User Guides, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), analytical reports, and updates regarding IT service initiatives.
  • Adhere to organizational strategies related to project and change management processes, serving in the Change Requester and Change Owner roles as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant college, university, state, and federal policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations, and laws.
  • Utilize university service ticketing systems for tracking incidents, fulfilling requests, and maintaining effective communication and documentation for clients.

Outreach, Education, and Training:
  • Provide training and guidance to clients and peers on the functionality, standards, and usability of supported systems.
  • Foster open collaborative interactions among all IT units, COM/AHSC Departments, vendors, and health partners to ensure transparency and thorough communication, building awareness and a sense of shared purpose in Health and Information Technology.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the overall success of the College by undertaking all other assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Job responsibilities will encompass all areas of the COM, UCF Health, and Burnett Biomedical Sciences, with limited interaction with AHSC components and teaching hospitals initially. The level of collaboration will evolve as campus development progresses.
  • Complete all required UCF and COM training and updates in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience; or a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a healthcare or medical school setting.
  • Familiarity with server operating systems (Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, etc.).
  • Experience with endpoint management and monitoring systems (SCCM/MECM, Intune, JAMF, AirWatch, SCOM, etc.).
  • Experience with IT Service Management systems (ServiceNow, etc.).
