Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose Automotive Issues: Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules.
  • Verify Warranty and Service Contract Coverage: Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions.
  • Develop Estimates: Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.
  • Prepare Repair Orders: Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
  • Maintain Customer Rapport: Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
  • Maintain Automotive Records: Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
  • Update Job Knowledge: Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.
  • Enhance Organization Reputation: Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Requirements
  • Establish and Maintain Good Relationships: Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Answer Technical Questions: Ability to answer customers' technical questions regarding vehicle problems, warranties, services, and repairs.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Systems: Knowledge of automotive systems in general.
  • Review Service Orders: Ability to review service orders and inspect the vehicle for necessary repairs.
  • Knowledge of New Models: Knowledge of new models and product improvements, based on technical service bulletins, etc.
  • Warranty Guidelines: Knowledge of warranty guidelines and ability to relate them to warranty service repair orders.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with co-workers and co-workers throughout repair process.
