Job Overview:
This role is pivotal in gathering financial information to guarantee the precision and promptness of financial and operational reports. As a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, you will assist in maintaining the financial systems of the plant. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the FP&A team to carry out both transactional and foundational analytical tasks that foster ongoing enhancement within the plant.
Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and adherence to safety protocols is essential. Proper Personal Protective Equipment must be worn, and OSHA safety standards must be met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Input data into financial systems such as payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, or general ledger to create management reports or information utilized in financial statement preparation. Ensure financial accuracy through controls and auditing processes.
- Engage with vendors and internal stakeholders, addressing inquiries, clarifying processes, or conducting analyses as needed.
- Utilize Diver, Oracle reports, and Discoverer queries to assess data for reasonableness, trends, and opportunities for process enhancements.
- Actively participate in operations finance, supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams within the technical accounting group.
- Encourage a culture centered on continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine processes within the plant and FP&A.
- Serve as the primary backup for other processes within the Plant FP&A group.
- Execute administrative tasks for finance as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
- Collaborate with leaders and colleagues to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety.
- Understand and implement standard operating procedures relevant to the position. Conduct all Process Control Points (PCP) and Critical Control Points (CCP) checks necessary for the role. Follow the reaction plan for Food Safety, Food Quality, and customer requirement outages by notifying the appropriate leaders. Recognize and comprehend customer requirements and assist in ensuring proper operations and product quality. Accurately record data on production reports.
- Monitor KRONOS & Production Reports.
- Facilitate Payroll processing.
- Conduct Period Closing duties for payroll reporting.
- Manage plant accounts payable.
- Deliver payroll and accounts payable customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Gather, report, and reconcile milk and cream data with vendors. Communicate information to state boards.
- Handle various tasks that may be reassigned due to workload, including overtime as necessary.
- Participate in team meetings & Certifications.
- Work alongside Human Resources to ensure Payroll Accuracy.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
- Associate degree in accounting preferred.
- 5-7 years of Payroll or Time Keeping Experience or equivalent financial accounting experience in accounts payable or receivables.
- Ability to read and understand detailed reports. Proficient in writing and verbally communicating process procedures. Capable of composing messages using various methods such as electronic mail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently in a team environment.
- Proficient in 10-key operations.
- Mathematical and analytical skills.
- Background in Accounting with knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), techniques, and payroll practices, processes, and systems. Familiarity with sales and use tax.
- Computer proficiency: Excel, Oracle, Word, PeopleSoft.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Attention to detail and data validation skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to propose continuous improvement ideas, team player mentality, and strong process and communication skills.
- Previous exposure to cost accounting preferred but not required. Proficiency with software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Oracle, Hyperion).
- Excellent computer skills.
- Familiarity with word-processing, graphics, flowcharts, or other software is desirable.
- Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Understanding of payroll practices, processes, and systems.
