Job Overview

Location:
Alexandria, VA - May occasionally require work at an alternate office location.

  • Conduct electronic background verification assessments utilizing designated databases (e.g., Transunion, Equifax, Experian, Dun & Bradstreet Business Information Report, System for Award Management, and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority for Broker Firms) as necessary.
  • Evaluate preliminary vetting requests by scrutinizing and interpreting suitability and security documentation (i.e., eQIP or eAPP forms, integrity and fitness forms, HSPD-12 forms) for precision and thoroughness, along with all relevant data or information. Address Rap Back alerts and Continuous Vetting Checks, providing recommendations for the adjudication process.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an updated case summary sheet detailing all analyses and actions taken, forwarding to Federal personnel for final assessment. Process transfer requests, pre-exit clearance requests, and reinvestigations as needed, ensuring the case summary sheet reflects all actions undertaken.
  • Manage the personnel security database known as eWORKS, ensuring accurate data entry and creating the necessary processing activities for proper case routing. Upload all relevant supporting documents to the appropriate eWORKS case document tab.
  • Respond to general security processing inquiries and escalate complex inquiries to the appropriate Federal Personnel Security Specialist.
  • Review the outputs of junior contractor security specialist staff, including Case Summary Actions, Letters of Interrogatory, Letters of Advisement, and Conditional Approval Letters, while mentoring junior staff in relevant areas of security administration. Assist junior staff in managing their caseloads to meet target deliverables and requirements.
  • Utilize business and case management processing systems to update data and security information as required.
  • Safeguard Privacy Act Protected Information and Personal Identifiable Information appropriately.
  • Support Federal personnel in revising personnel security procedures and processes as necessary, assisting with any administrative personnel security matters that do not inherently fall under government functions.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a security administration environment, encompassing personnel security, background investigation, physical security, or private sector security related to Federal Government contracting.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in casework requiring adherence to the guidelines of 5 C.F.R. part 731, 1400, 736, and executive orders 10450, 12968, 13764, 13467, 13488, and ODNI SEADs 3, 4, 6, and 7, including conducting background investigations and company checks, reviewing security forms, identifying and associating risk and sensitivity levels, and analyzing information for case summary presentations.
  • Must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience with business processing systems, particularly a personnel security case management system, with a preference for knowledge of eWorks.
  • Proficient in customer communication, including the construction of Letters of Interrogatory, Letters of Advisement, and Conditional Approval Letters.
  • Experience supporting FDIC is highly desirable.
