Position: Part-Time/Full-Time Civil Litigation Counsel

Location: Flexible

Hours: 20-40 hours per week (flexible, full or part-time)

We welcome those eager to learn and grow within this area of law. While experience in construction law is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite. Please note that trial appearances are not required for this position.

Requirements:

  • New Graduates: We encourage applications from recent graduates who have excelled in Contracts/Contract Disputes and are preparing for the Bar exam.
  • Experienced Attorneys: Seasoned professionals are also invited to apply.
  • California Bar: Candidates should be studying for or have obtained their California Bar License.
  • Litigation Skills: A solid understanding of civil litigation processes is essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with legal research tools and software such as Westlaw, CEB, Outlook, e-Filing, Adobe, and Excel is preferred.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication abilities are crucial.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach and self-motivation are important traits.
  • Availability: Candidates should have flexible availability of 20-40 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

As a Civil Litigation Counsel at Phelps Law Office, your duties will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive legal research
  • Drafting legal documents, including pleadings and motions, and responding to discovery inquiries
  • Preparing case files for trial
  • Participating in video court appearances as needed
