As a key member of our emergency shelter team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of residents.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eKey Responsibilities\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003ch3\u003eAdmission and Intake\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003eAdmit women and children to the shelter, complete intake paperwork, and orient individuals to the YWCA Emergency Shelter and its policies.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eEnsure clients are complying with program guidelines and procedures.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003ch3\u003eShelter Operations\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003eEnsure residents are supplied with necessary items (food, clothing, etc.).\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eMaintain staff and participant records, including admittance, daily journal, resident's log, shelter duty checklist, child protection, and other reports as assigned.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eEnsure security of the shelter: locks, security systems, fire alarm systems, and security checklist. Respond appropriately to alarms and emergency situations, including the use of First Aid and CPR. \u003c\/li\003e\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003ch3\u003eAdministrative Functions\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003ePerform general administrative functions, such as documentation within the communication log, answering the phone, and responding to in-person inquiries in a professional and timely manner.\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\u003eProvide appropriate information and referrals for those who need other resources.\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\u003eProvide an immediate and professional response to any emergency or disturbance within the YWCA Cass Clay.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003ch3\u003eQualifications\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003eFemale (BFOQ)\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\u003eHigh school graduate. 2 years of college in a related human service field or equivalent education/experience is required.\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\u003eAvailability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\u003eTraining or experience with working in crisis intervention\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\003eCPR and First Aid certified\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\003eMust have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.\u003c\/li\003e\u003cli\003eKnowledge of domestic violence, homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, and child development issues is essential.
