Position Overview:
The Educational Program Coordinator for Youth plays a crucial role in facilitating the delivery of engaging and effective educational initiatives for children aged 6 to 12. This position collaborates closely with the Education Director and/or the Youth Education Coordinator to enhance academic programming. The primary focus is to foster the implementation of age-appropriate literacy, STEM, and homework assistance activities through targeted and impactful programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute year-round educational initiatives, activities, and events as directed by the Education Director and/or Youth Education Coordinator, ensuring alignment with established educational standards and practices.
- Oversee an academic incentive framework for the youth education department.
- Facilitate specialized STEM and literacy programming.
- Support the goals of the Club-level Youth Education Department, adhering to academic activity standards set by Club leadership and the Education Team.
- Supervise and guide club members engaged in educational programs and services, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Collaborate on educational programs and events with BGCB Education staff and community partners.
- Actively engage in BGCB's Academic Success Initiatives, participating in team projects and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed about trends in educational programming, career exploration, and curriculum development.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and enriching academic environment.
- Travel between various sites and activities as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
General Expectations:
- Participate in evaluation efforts to assess program impact, including annual member feedback.
- Promote healthy lifestyles among youth and model positive behaviors.
- Foster inclusive environments for all youth, ensuring participation regardless of abilities.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance skills in youth development.
- Uphold a commitment to maintaining a safe environment free from abuse.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience in providing educational support and programs for youth.
- Understanding of youth development principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in MS Office and web applications is preferred.
- Ability to connect with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing service needs and clubhouse hours.
- A valid driver's license is preferred.
