The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Program Specialist to support the implementation of academic programs for members ages 6 to 12. This role will assist the Education Director and/or School Age Education Coordinator in delivering high-quality educational programming, focusing on literacy, STEM, and homework help.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and manage year-round education programs, activities, and events that align with the Common Core State Standards, 21st Century Skills, and BGCB Education practices.
- Coordinate an academic incentive system for the School Age Education department, promoting member engagement and motivation.
- Develop and facilitate targeted STEM and/or Literacy programming, ensuring a high level of quality and relevance.
- Support Club-level School Age Education department goals, adhering to BGCB academic program activity standards.
- Supervise and discipline club members participating in programs and services within the program area, as well as throughout the clubhouse as needed.
- Collaborate with BGCB Education staff and Program Partners to implement and participate in joint programs and events.
- Actively participate in BGCB's Formula for Impact: Academic Success Initiatives, including collaborative team projects and program support from the Director of Academic Success.
- Maintain a high level of professional communication, both internally and externally.
- Stay up-to-date with trends in education-specific programming, career exploration, professional development, and curriculum design.
- Ensure a safe, clean, effective, and academically enriching environment for members.
- Travel between sites and to activities as needed.
- High school degree or GED required.
- Direct experience providing education and/or academic support programs for youth.
- Knowledge of youth development principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
- MS Office and web competency preferred.
- Ability to work with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work clubhouse hours, especially as seasons and service needs change.
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license preferred.
