General Overview

  • The Field Safety Specialist is tasked with executing Clark Pacific's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies in collaboration with the EHS Manager. This role operates independently, providing project teams with proactive safety observations, recognizing positive behaviors, and pinpointing hazards on construction sites. The specialist will develop strategies to mitigate risks and communicate these strategies effectively with project teams and subcontractors. This position plays a vital role in enhancing the company's safety culture, performance, and practices, ensuring the adoption of best practices and innovative solutions from various industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the EHS Manager in articulating and implementing the company's safety vision and policies to cultivate a culture focused on achieving industry-leading safety results.
  • Conduct observations and analyze job sites and project plans to anticipate potential issues and provide solutions.
  • Lead the documentation and development of the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) and other essential project programs.
  • Coordinate and deliver training for all levels of management and project teams as required.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, subcontractors, and inspectors to strengthen the safety culture.
  • Engage consistently with field workers and project teams to foster strong relationships.
  • Advise and recommend safety solutions to project managers and superintendents.
  • Plan and execute safety solutions based on leading indicators.
  • Evaluate safety performance using analytical data from both leading and lagging indicators.
  • Integrate various safety approaches, including risk-based thinking and compliance perspectives.
  • Utilize logical reasoning to assess alternative solutions and monitor outcomes for continuous improvement.
  • Lead investigations into project site incidents.
  • Manage hazard assessments through safety inspections and data analysis to identify opportunities for preventive measures.
  • Inspect active project sites to ensure compliance and support employee safety.

  • Interactions with OSHA, consultants, and other regulatory agencies

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb throughout the work shift.
  • Willingness to travel between job sites, with potential for significant travel requirements.
  • Conduct onsite inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Performance Metrics

  • Ensure Leading and Lagging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are consistently monitored.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Track project corrective actions to timely completion.
  • Engage with project leadership and company management as necessary.
  • Work independently while providing regular updates to management.
  • Lead with a coaching approach to foster engagement.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree with 15 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • 1-5 years of experience in Safety and Compliance within commercial construction or manufacturing.
  • OSHA 10 & 30 certifications preferred.
