About the Role:
The Associate Manager, Ad Development plays a critical role in driving the strategic direction of the Promotional Plan in alignment with Merchandising businesses. This position oversees the development and implementation of the Promotional Plan, ensuring flexibility to support changing business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with Director, Marketing Operations and Manager, Ad Development to drive strategic direction of the Promotional Plan.
- Develop and implement Promotional Plan, while being flexible to support changing business needs.
- Oversee team of Ad Coordinators by supervising their daily operations and managing workloads.
- Lead the Ad Coordinators in the implementation of a consistent process in the coordination and execution of the Meijer Weekly Ads.
- Train and acclimate new hires to processes and technologies.
- Focus on team member development and leverage innovation throughout the organization.
- In collaboration with Manager, Ad Development, provide project and thought leadership in the design, development, and implementation of Meijer Weekly Ad content planning.
- Demonstrate a high-level understanding of Weekly Ad processes and timelines, and articulate the impact to both Ad Development and Merchandising with perspective to strategy/changes.
- Choreograph Weekly Ad page placement with key partners across planning and execution.
- In collaboration with Manager, Ad Development, review all Weekly Ad page requests, providing approval or rejection, and escalating as necessary.
- Report and analyze promotional performance; share findings to drive insights and recommendations.
- Actively collaborate with Merchandising, Marketing, and Store Operations partners to create an environment in which teams can align on strategy.
- Understand, monitor, and optimize all components of the Promotional Planning process, with the goal of delivering the best customer experience.
- Own the Promotional Planning timeline to ensure proactive, flexible, and responsive communication.
- Manage accurate, clear, and timely communications across all applicable areas of Meijer.
- Create strong partnerships with Marketing teams to develop and communicate customer-centered solutions.
- Partner with the Merchandising team to successfully and seamlessly execute the Weekly Ads and achieve the financial objectives of Merchants weekly/period promotion plan.
- Be accountable for effectively influencing at different levels; taking an idea and garnering support for leaders/teams to bring it to life across different media channels.
- Manage ambiguity and continually seek improvements in the Promotional Planning and Weekly Ad execution processes.
- Conduct ongoing competitor analysis through partnership with Numerator.
- Actively participate in the continued transformation of print media to personalized digital creative (Digital Ad First initiative).
- In partnership with the Manager, Ad Development, collaborate with the IT department to evaluate current technologies and software usages for maximum efficiencies in Ad design and execution, as well as emergency procedures and processes to ensure ad content gets to the distribution network weekly.
- Participate in rotation of 24/7 on-call status for problem resolutions, as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent retail experience.
- 5+ years of marketing, advertising, or retail management experience.
- Extensive experience of the Meijer Weekly Ad Process preferred.
- Previous management experience preferred.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity and inspire teams to follow in the face of change and innovation.
- Possess strong customer service orientation and skills.
- Possess strong leadership, team building, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally across business areas, with all levels of Meijer team members, leadership, and vendor partners.
