Job Overview

As a Slitting Machine Technician at Steel Technologies LLC, you will be tasked with the critical role of setting up and managing slitting machinery in accordance with client specifications and production directives. Your expertise will be essential in conducting routine equipment assessments and ensuring precise measurements, alignment of components, and the production of materials that meet our high standards.

Shift Schedule: 2nd Shift - Tuesday through Friday (3:30pm - 2:00am)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and verify arbor and overarm setups to guarantee adherence to production guidelines.
  • Match coil identity with production requirements and load coils accordingly.
  • Thread coils through the slitter head, eliminating any non-compliant materials.
  • Integrate mults into the recoiler system.
  • Uphold production and quality benchmarks by measuring and validating during and after processing.
    • Monitor and document gauge width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface condition.
    • Establish gauge monitoring systems (if applicable) and ensure proper calibration.
    • Adjust machine configurations to rectify defects as necessary throughout the slitting process.
    • Report any production non-compliance to the supervisor or shift lead.
  • Secure and label slit mults.
  • Complete necessary production documentation.
  • Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting issues or performing preventative maintenance as required.
  • Clear scrap from machinery and empty hoppers as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the slitter and surrounding work area.
