Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified applicant for the regular part-time After-School Academy Leader position at Loudoun County Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS). The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities for elementary-aged youth in a highly respected after-school program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor children's actions, communication skills, and engagement in program activities.
  • Provide assistance, motivation, and education to children.
  • Interact with parents to share information.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, holiday-themed and special projects, as well as quieter activities like snacks and homework time for children.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required, along with at least six (6) months of experience working with children in a program setting.
  • Complete education and experience requirements to meet Virginia license requirements for position.

Special Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks.
  • First Aid (Infant through Adult)/CPR certifications before or immediately after hire.
  • Successfully pass a TB test within 30 days of starting employment, and then every year following that.
  • Must be willing to attend paid annual programmatic training during the school year to enhance skills and knowledge of school-aged childcare and programming.
  • Must be physically able to keep up with participants and lift 50 pounds.
