Product Specialist Job Description

**About the Role**

As a Product Specialist at EIS Wire & Cable, you will play a crucial role in creating new and maintaining existing products to meet individual customer specifications. This involves effectively interfacing with various teams, including customer service, product testing agencies, purchasing, quality, and production teams, to ensure customer needs are met.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Provide cost estimates on customer RFQs and work with customers to ensure they receive the best product for their needs
* Write specifications (BOMs and Routings) and design for manufacturing
* Maintain ERP and design files daily
* Maintain and adjust materials and work center costs as needed
* Create customer specifications for new products
* Communicate with customers on product design and capability
* Maintain customer cross-references and drawings
* Interact with UL, CSA, and MSHA on new and current approvals and develop in-depth knowledge of UL, CSA, and MSHA
* Communicate with suppliers on material capabilities
* Design and test/troubleshoot new product lines
* Control the Engineering Change Notice process
* Develop and improve processes throughout the plant
* Work closely with Cost Accounting and IT
* ECN processing
* Travel may be required

**Work Environment**

This role operates in a professional office environment and requires exposure to manufacturing areas, which demands the use of personal protective equipment, including safety glasses with side shields, steel toe shoes, and mandatory hearing protection.

**Position Type/Expected Hours of Work**

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work required as job duties demand.

**Travel**

Anticipated travel requirements are minimal.

**Preferred Education and Experience**

* Experience with BOM and Router creation
* Bachelor's degree and four to six years' related experience or training
* Prior experience with Cablebuilder and MS Access software is a strong plus
* Experience in interfacing with UL, CSA, and MSHA agencies
* Six sigma and/or lean manufacturing exposure
