Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with over 10 years of comprehensive design and field experience. This role encompasses field assessments, structural analysis, and design, along with collaboration with clients and other construction professionals. The ideal candidate will engage in a diverse range of challenging projects, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures, as well as historical restoration and renovation of existing buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct feasibility studies by analyzing project concepts, objectives, and requirements; performing site investigations; and establishing performance standards while preparing necessary construction documents.
  • Organize structural engineering design projects by identifying immediate and long-term challenges; developing timelines, cost estimates, and resource requirements.
  • Develop structural design plans through research, analysis, and application of engineering concepts and techniques; adapt structural mechanics options; and perform design calculations related to foundations, loading, and structural response.
  • Support construction efforts by conducting compliance inspections and tests; resolving structural design-related issues; and coordinating with construction contractors.
  • Document structural design and maintenance by recording design features, maintenance needs, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with codes and regulations by enforcing adherence to testing requirements and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Enhance engineering team performance by coordinating efforts, reviewing open issues, and contributing to team meetings.
  • Prepare analytical reports by collecting and summarizing structural engineering data and trends.
  • Oversee contractors and testing firms during investigative phases.
  • Identify appropriate solutions while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Develop detailed plans and specifications for bidding processes, with an understanding of public bidding laws being advantageous.
  • Manage the bidding process for both public and private projects.
  • Engage in construction administration, including site visits and problem-solving during construction phases.
  • Fulfill project management duties, including reviewing monthly billing, approving vendor invoices, and monitoring budgets and schedules.
  • Collaborate with other project managers and staff to address unique structural-related challenges.
  • Guide production efforts by working closely with administrative and drafting teams.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and professional registration is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD and computer-aided design/analysis of structures is essential, with experience in BIM software being a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also necessary.
