Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Manager to join our team at the City of Somerville. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall financial management of the department, including budget preparation and implementation, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and implement the annual budget, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff to ensure effective financial management and compliance with city policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to new and existing staff on financial management and reporting.
Requirements
  • College degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in financial management, preferably in a municipal or public sector setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of budgetary principles, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
