Join the team at Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center Inc as an Accountant. As a key member of the Finance department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and success of our organization.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine account reconciliations, analyzing financial information, and preparing financial reports. You will work closely with the CFO and Controller to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
Key Responsibilities- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
- Complete bank reconciliations monthly for each of the organization accounts.
- Prepare Depreciation Schedules and monthly Fixed Assets reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end closing of Financials.
- Assist in the timely preparation and provision of management reports, analysis, and commentary.
- Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
- Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
- Be familiar with the aims and objectives of the Health Center and express a genuine enthusiasm for its success.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Adherence to protocols in accordance with HIPAA regulation requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- An Associates Degree or equivalent degree in accounting and a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Experience with MIP Fund Accounting software is preferred.
- Knowledge and direct experience in accounting for a publicly funded, non-profit health organization is preferred.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must possess sufficient written and verbal communication skills to be able to interact with co-workers, employees, patients, medical professionals, vendors, and agencies in a professional manner, developing rapport and enhancing business relationships.
- Must have the ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner and assume individual initiative. Must be willing and have the ability to accept supervision and to follow directions.
- Must possess skill in using computers and other office equipment; in gathering and summarizing information; preparing reports; and in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing complicated and continuing fiscal assignments. Must have experience and knowledge of various accounting software and Microsoft Office programs.
- Must have the ability to use 10-key calculator and utilize MS Excel with ability to create formulas and utilize links within Excel.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion and tact. Must have a general knowledge of and the ability to maintain HIPAA privacy requirements.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Must be able to work additional hours as needed to complete
Walking, standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; climbing step-stools, etc.; stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching; pushing, pulling and lifting up to 30 pounds; raising objects overhead; manual dexterity for operation of computer, phones and small office machines; hearing, talking and good verbal and written communication skills; repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
