Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable individual to lead our survey and geospatial team in the Norfolk, VA area. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will be responsible for collecting and interpreting geospatial data to provide precision data interpretation and support our clients' success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a two- or three-member crew and, in some instances, a one-person crew in conducting various survey and geospatial projects.
  • Projects may include ROW surveys, utility surveys, 3D scanning, horizontal and vertical control surveys, construction layout, residential and commercial properties, topographic surveys, aerial ground control surveys, boundary and ALTA surveys.
Qualifications
  • 10 years of field survey experience and at least 5 years of experience as a Party Chief, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of survey and mapping specifications and standards.
  • Proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations, and leveling.
  • Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
  • Self-starter with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
