Position Overview: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all facets of accounting, financial planning, reporting, and cash management related to all ABT activities, facilities, and investments. This role also involves directing the development of benefits administration and compensation structures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The CFO will support the Executive Director and the organization in operations, strategic planning, financial forecasting, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance team to effectively meet the financial requirements of the organization.
  • Oversee the formulation of accounting policies, internal controls, cash management procedures, financial plans, and budgeting processes.
  • Propose and implement strategies to enhance ABT's financial management.
  • Maintain open communication with finance staff and board committees, including Finance, Audit, and Investment Committees.
  • Ensure accurate preparation of budgets, long-term operational and financial plans, and periodic financial reports.
  • Manage the institution's general accounting functions, including journal entries, cash disbursements, accounts payable, and receivable.
  • Safeguard ABT's assets in alignment with institutional goals and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including taxation and corporate governance.
  • Supervise the annual independent audit process.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with financial service providers, including auditors, banks, and insurance firms.
  • Oversee all banking transactions, including loans and investments.
  • Manage the endowment and oversee fund investments per board directives.
  • Provide the development team with necessary data and reports for grant applications and financial reporting.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including insurance and retirement plans.
  • Evaluate and recommend adjustments to annual benefit packages.
  • Ensure compliance with compensation and benefits regulations.
  • Oversee office management and building services, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Recruit, manage, and assess finance staff performance.
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and manage related agreements.
  • Oversee the development and management of information systems.
  • Serve on the Board of Managers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate and present information clearly and effectively.
  • Experience in developing, monitoring, and reporting budgets and projections.
  • Strong fiduciary responsibility for timely communication of financial issues and solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and ABT's mission and values.
  • Experience in negotiating favorable agreements and contracts.
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in all professional interactions.
  • Commitment to advocating for ABT within the organization and the broader community.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in finance or a related field (MBA or MPA preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of financial management experience in the nonprofit sector, with progressively responsible roles.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience.
