Engineering Manager for Cloud Solutions

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a forward-thinking and enthusiastic engineering manager to design and develop innovative features for our Investments Platform.

The AWS Investments platform encompasses a suite of products and services aimed at enhancing and streamlining sales and marketing program operations, engagement, and management.

In this role, you will have the chance to be part of a vibrant team with a variety of expertise, influencing our technical strategy and creating exciting new functionalities that operate at Amazon's scale.

This platform will serve as the backbone for full-stack applications utilizing native AWS technologies. You will collaborate with key stakeholders of this platform, including product and program leaders, as well as our primary technical partners across AWS.

The ideal candidate thrives on constructing highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems using native cloud architectural patterns. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with engineers to architect and implement optimal technical designs and approaches.
  • Establish best practices for software development and documentation, ensuring designs meet requirements and deliver high-quality results within tight timelines.
  • Oversee multiple development teams focused on creating complex platforms for personalized user experiences.
  • Mentor team members to foster engineering excellence.
  • Drive continuous enhancements to the efficiency and adaptability of the business platform while maintaining a high standard of customer trust, performance, and availability.
  • Utilize strong communication skills and a passion for leveraging data and software to inform business decisions at scale.
  • Prepare technical requirements and software design specifications.
  • Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of experience in designing or architecting systems.
  • 8+ years of experience leading the development of multi-tier web services.
  • Familiarity with engineering practices and patterns throughout the software/hardware/networks development lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in communicating with users and technical teams to gather requirements and describe software product features.
  • Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
  • Experience collaborating with product and program management teams.
